Construction Health & Safety Management in Malta

Site risk management, safety protocols, regulatory compliance and accident prevention on every job.

An unsafe site is a slow and expensive site. We set up and enforce safety measures from day one and keep them in place as the job changes, so your project stays compliant and your workers and neighbours stay safe.

What's included

  • Site risk assessments as work stages change
  • Safe access, edge protection and scaffolding checks
  • PPE and site-rules enforcement for every trade
  • Toolbox talks and induction for new subcontractors
  • Housekeeping and debris management
  • Records ready for any inspection by the authorities
  • Coordination with your appointed safety officials

What Malta's safety rules ask of you

Under S.L. 646.27, in force since September 2025, the client on most building projects must appoint a Project Supervisor for Health and Safety from the Occupational Health and Safety Authority's (OHSA) register before works start. The supervisor prepares a health and safety plan before the site is set up, and a health and safety file is kept for future works. Larger projects (over 30 working days with more than 20 workers at once, or over 500 person-days) also need prior notice to OHSA at least four weeks before work begins.

Every contractor on site needs a written risk assessment for the job, kept up to date as the work changes. We make sure those pieces exist, are followed day to day, and are ready if an inspector visits. It protects workers and neighbours, and it keeps your project from being stopped.

Frequently asked questions

Which authorities oversee construction safety in Malta?

Occupational health and safety on sites falls under the Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA), while the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) regulates how building sites are run. We help keep your site ready for both.

Do small refurbishments need safety management?

Yes. Even a single-apartment refurbishment involves electrical work, tools and debris. Basic, well-run safety measures prevent accidents and the delays that follow them.

Can you take over safety on a site that's already running?

Yes. We start with a walk-round, list what needs fixing in order of risk, and put the rest in place without stopping the job.
